Tractors 

Whether you are an owner operator, private carrier or something in between we provide the coverages you need-from state and federal filings to trailer interchange. Our specialized heavy truck claims service and rental reimbursement with downtime will protect you from the unexpected.   

Pickup trucks

We insure a wide variety of pickup trucks-from standard beds to heavy duty pickups with an industrial hitch. The ease of use of a pickup is perfect for on-the-go workers. They provide both passenger space and excellent hauling capabilities. We'll ensure the cargo you're hauling too.  

Tow trucks 

These are also called flatbeds, car carriers or anything else used to tow a vehicle. Flatbeds and car carriers are very similar; however, car carriers have a hydraulic lift that tilts the bed down, whereas flatbeds stay stationary. Adding additional coverages like Garage Keeper's legal liability and on-hook provide coverage for the vehicles you are hauling.  

Box Trucks

Box trucks, also known as straight trucks, are most commonly used to haul furniture and appliances. Typically, drivers do not need a commercial driver's license (CDL) to drive a box truck because they are used more for local routes and the light weight of the vehicle.

Dump trucks 

Dump Trucks are in specialty trucking class due to dumping dirt, sand, and gravel hauling and stake body trucks for logging. Dump trucks are structured differently than most trucks. They can withstand off road and construction site use however if loaded incorrectly can become a safety hazard and tip over.  

Truck insurance filings 

Commercial truck filings prove that you have enough Liability insurance to meet minimum Federal and state requirements.  Progressive offers state and federal filings, also called financial proof of responsibility that are a guarantee to the government that you are carrying sufficient truck insurance protection. Federal filings 

We offer federal filings for trucking businesses that engage in:  

* Interstate trucking

* Hauling hazardous cargo (placard)

* For-hire trucking (common, contract)

* For-hire passenger transportation*

 *A Progressive Commercial policy currently offers physical damage only for businesses that require a hazardous material placard.  As an example, you are required to have a federal filing if you are a motor carrier doing long haul trucking, regional trucking or if you are specialist. For-hire truckers hauling nonexempt commodities across the state line must also carry a federal filing. The BMC-34 form is the filing required for these types of businesses. 

Federal filings are not required for businesses that never cross the state line or engage intrastate trucking.  

Owner operators with their own authority If you're working under your own authority, you'll need to carry your own commercial truck insurance coverages, including:  

* Liability - Pays for damages that you cause to other people and their property. It normally includes Bodily Injury Liability and Property Damage coverages. 

* Physical Damage - Pays for repairs to your truck if it's damaged in an accident, whether it's caused by a collision with another vehicle or a falling tree branch.

* Motor Truck Cargo – Coverage for loss or damage to the load you're hauling.

* Motor Truck General Liability – Pays for injuries or property damage you cause because of business activities not directly related to using your truck.  

This isn't an all-inclusive list. The FMCSA and certain contracts likely have specific owner operator insurance requirements you'll need to meet before you can start working. Make sure you've got the proper coverages in place before hitting the road.
